Greenville-based Apparel Company Announces 50th Retailer

Loggerhead Apparel’s American-grown, American-made clothing now available in Mast General Store, Asheville location
GREENVILLE, SC - August 2, 2012 - The Mast General Store in Asheville, N.C. became the 50th retailer to feature Loggerhead Apparel. The Greenville-based company’s clothing line features apparel that is 100 percent American-grown, American-made, including its signature “Bellwether Polo.” Launched in early 2011, Loggerhead Apparel donates 10 percent of all sales – not profits but sales – to regional sea turtle conservation efforts. Additionally, the majority of the manufacturing takes place in several independently owned facilities in South Carolina.
Mast General Store locations in Greenville and Columbia began carrying Loggerhead Apparel in the spring.
According to Bryan Howell, Mast General Store Greenville area manager, the brand’s conservation efforts paired with the “Made in America” message have impressed many consumers.
“Loggerhead Apparel has already been well-received in our store, and we’re happy to join our other locations to offer this local clothing line,” said Carmen Cabrera, Asheville general manager for Mast General Store. “The classic look, the philanthropy tie-in and the fact that it’s made in America sets them apart, and our customers come here for that.”
“The Mast General Store family has played a huge role in making the Loggerhead Apparel line a success in their locations, so it makes sense that the Asheville store has allowed us to reach this important milestone,” explains Founder Sara Painter, who created Loggerhead Apparel with her husband, Zac. “We look forward to continuing to spread our ‘American-grown, American-made’ story through this partnership.”
Customers can visit Mast General Store, Asheville location, at 15 Biltmore Ave., in Columbia at 1601 Main St. or in Greenville at 111 N. Main St.
In the last year, Loggerhead Apparel has committed more than $20,000 to groups in the Carolinas, Florida, Texas and California, including the South Carolina Aquarium, Sea Turtle Conservatory, SEWEE Association and Sea Turtle Restoration Project.
Loggerhead Apparel is available along the east coast – from South Florida to New Jersey – and has also recently partnered with retailers in Missouri and Kentucky. The brand has plans for expansion throughout the United States in communities that embrace a coastal, casual lifestyle for a cause.
