COLUMBIA, SC - September 21, 2012 - Confident that the Clemson Tigers are ready
to take on and defeat the Florida State Seminoles, Governor Nikki Haley
placed a friendly wager with Gov. Rick Scott of Florida on Saturday’s
college football game – a contest between two of the best football teams
in the Atlantic Coast Conference and the nation. Kickoff is slated for
8:00 PM ET on Saturday in Tallahassee.
“With college football season in full swing and two South Carolina
teams ranked in the top 10, it was great to hear from my friend and
fellow college football fan Gov. Rick Scott,” said Gov. Haley, who put a
barbecue dinner on the line. “When he called and started talking smack
about the Clemson-Florida State game, I told him I had confidence in
Coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers, who represent our state well and make
us proud, and I was happy to place a friendly wager on the game.”
Gov. Scott bet Key Lime Pie that the Seminoles would win.
“Our
high schools, universities and NFL teams have proven time and time
again that Florida is the number one state for football, and there is no
doubt the Noles will win this weekend,” said Gov. Scott. “I really
appreciate Gov. Haley taking part in this wager and look forward to
enjoying some BBQ from her great state.”
