Spartanburg County Parks Department is holding a “Health Rocks” concert! The concert is for over 250 at-risk children that participate in the Parks’ free summer playground program. This year’s playground program used the “Health Rocks” curriculum which incorporates alcohol, tobacco & drug prevention for children 8-12-years-old. Spartanburg Parks partnered with Clemson Extension Services 4-H to provide the curriculum. Interns from Milliken Corporation also participated by going to the playground program sites and engaging children in an art project about “Health Rocks.” On Thursday, July 12, 2012, not only will the children enjoy inflatable bounce stations, fishing and lunch, but they will be treated to a concert by the following volunteer musical groups: Brooks Henderson, Lee Smith, GracePointe Ministries, Alison Watson, Greyson Turner and the Wheresville Project.
